Westringia fruticosa - Coastal or Native Rosemary
Westringia fruticosa is a native Australian shrub that goes by the common names Coastal Rosemary and Coastal Westringia. Plant singly as a background plant or grouped as an informal hedge, feature in borders, roadside verges and raised beds. Tolerates coastal exposure, is extremely hardy and can be planted as a windbreak. Requires well-drained soils, responds to heavy pruning. It has dense, fine leaves and small white to light mauve flowers loved by birds and other wildlife. Mulch and water regularly until the plant is established, usually around 12 weeks. Prune lightly while young to encourage dense growth and fertilise with a slow-release native fertiliser in spring. Westringias are in the mint family (Lamiaceae)..The name 'Rosemary' refers to the appearance of the plant only. 'Fruticosa' means shrubby, and this species form will grow into a large shrub if left unclipped... HEIGHT & WIDTH: 2 m H x 4 m W
